BANGOR, Maine — Women of the Word, a Massachusetts-based ministry dedicated to transforming women into Christ’s image and equipping women to walk biblical truths in their daily lives, will conduct a seminar April 26-27, at Peakes Auditorium at Bangor High School.
The theme of the conference, “Behind the Veil,” comes from 2 Corinthians 3:18: “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the spirit of the Lord.”
The opening sessions will at 7:30 p.m. April 26, with events planned from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. the next day.
“WOW is so excited to be coming to mid-Maine this spring,” Betsy Roy, national director, said on the flier for the conference. “The word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit will meet to transform [women’s lives] at ‘Behind the Veil.’ We are committed to seeing the purposes of God accomplished at this gathering of women from throughout New England and Canada. Women of every culture, age and denomination are welcome.”
June Evans, Barbara Benton, Phyllis Ellis and Dotty Schmitt are scheduled to speak at the event. Sandy Childress will act as the praise and worship leader. The Envision Dance Team will perform.
Kim Warf of Word of Life Christian Center in Bangor has helped organize the event. She said WOW was last in Maine four years ago when a conference was held in Portland.
“I have attended several of the WOW conferences and I always come away feeling encouraged and better able to do life,” Warf said Thursday.
Registration is $55 per person for both days and $45 for just April 27.
