VAN BUREN – Mabel T. Ayotte, 83, died April 16, 2013, at her residence. She was born Nov. 16, 1929, in Drummond, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Wilmot and Artheline (Rioux) Murphy.
She had been employed as a cook in area restaurants. Mabel was a member and past officer of American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 49 and Daughters of Isabella of Van Buren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Joel Ayotte of Van Buren; five sons, Jon Ayotte of Millinocket, Allan Ayotte, Michael Ayotte, Steven Ayotte and wife, Leah, all of Van Buren and Patrick Ayotte and wife, Tina, of North Waterboro; one daughter, Theresa Ayotte Jamieson of Van Buren; three brothers, Ralph and Allen Murphy, both of Toronto, Ontario, and Melvin Murphy of Minto, New Brunswick; four sisters, Violet Michaud of Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Betty Ann Wile-Kennedy of Toronto, Ontario, Phyllis Forney of Elizabethville, Pa., and Evelyn Zaskowski of Okeechobee, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be at Grande Riviere Cemetery later this spring.
