PORTLAND, Maine — Diversified Business Communications, which produces business-to-business events and publications from its Portland headquarters, announced Thursday that it had acquired two organizations that will expand its events and publishing businesses.

Diversified has acquired the Institute of Finance and Management, which produces newsletters and events in the world of corporate financial management, according to a news release. It acquired the organization from Greenhaven Partners, a Greenwich, Conn.-based private equity firm.

Diversified has also acquired Intelligent Exhibitions Limited, a U.K.-based producer of international exhibitions and conferences that focus on the areas of ocean technology and light detection and ranging, known as LiDAR.

“These are strategic acquisitions that expand our reach into the business service, ocean technology and 3D data capture and imaging technology businesses,” said Nancy Hasselback, Diversified’s CEO, in a statement.
