OAKFIELD, Maine — A 29-year-old Oakfield woman was arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and endangering the welfare of a child after an investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Darrell Crandall, MDEA division commander, said Wednesday evening that Crystal Hitchcock was arrested late on Tuesday at a property on the Thompson Settlement Road after an investigation turned up evidence of methamphetamine manufacturing.
She had a toddler with her at the time, and the Department of Health and Human Services was called in to address the issue.
The property in this southern Aroostook community was secured overnight, according to Crandall, and MDEA agents obtained a search warrant before beginning their search of the grounds Wednesday afternoon.
Agents seized precursor drugs, chemicals and other materials used to make methamphetamine, Crandall reported. The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department, State Police, state Department of Environmental Protection and the Oakfield Fire Department assisted at the scene.
