FORT KENT – Lawrence Joseph Ouellette, 89, died peacefully April 8, 2013, at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born Jan. 2, 1924, in Baker Brook, New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Joseph and Leanne (Albert) Ouellette.
He loved to be active making crafty items or making blankets and many other things. He worked at Century Theater for 40 years as the projectionist. He also worked at Daigle Buick as a mechanic for many years. He was a hard working man and you could not stop him with his hobbies that he loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Joan Ouellette, of Fort Kent; four daughters, Linda and husband, Milton Bailey, of Manchester, Conn., Priscilla and husband, Charles Luchette, of West Bridgewater, Mass., Donna and husband, Ray Spurgas, of Burlington, Conn., and Rinette Ouellette of Westerly, R.I.; two grandsons, Nicholas Spurgas and Daniel Luchette; four sisters, Juliette Pelletier, Julian Kennedy, Lisa Pelletier and Bertha Ouellette; two brothers, Euclid and wife, Leanne Ouellette and Guy Ouellette; also survived by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Priscilla and Hervin Pelletier, Claudette and Jack Oakes, Joel and Ella Daigle, Roy Belanger, Ida Daigle and Rachel Daigle; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and wife, Emma Ouellette, Roland and and wife, Jeannine Ouellette and Noel Ouellette; sister, Jean and husband, Edgar Tardiff; sister-in-law, Anita; and also brothers-in-law, Albert Daigle, Richard Daigle and Jean Baptiste and wife, Lillian Daigle.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 11, and 9 a.m. Friday, April 12, until time of service at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Spring burial will be held May 7 in the parish cemetery.
