PORTLAND, Maine — Delta Air Lines on Tuesday said it would add a fifth weekday, nonstop flight from Portland International Jetport to New York’s LaGuardia Airport.
“The Portland market has demonstrated enough growth to support an additional frequency to the New York – LaGuardia airport,” Joe Esposito, Delta’s managing director of domestic network planning, said in a statement. “The additional service will enhance existing business and leisure travel to the New York area as well as offer connecting opportunities to 61 destinations on more than 250 nonstop peak day departures.”
Along with JetBlue’s four daily flights to New York’s JFK International Airport and United’s four daily flights to Newark, N.J., the additional Delta flight to the New York area will bring the total number of daily flights to the New York metropolitan region to 13, according to a news release from the airport.
Paul Bradbury, Portland’s airport director, said Delta’s additional flight “is welcome news for Maine travelers.”
