Coach Steve Trimper’s keys to the series: “It’s gonna be a battle. They’re a very well-coached team and we need to be on our game. We can’t give them any ‘freebies:’ Walks, errors, missed cutoffs. We need to use our speed to manufacture runs.”

Game notes: This series is a battle for first place. The Black Bears have won two of three games in each of their previous series. Lawrence boasts a 0.38 ERA in league play and Gay’s six stolen bases rank first. The Bearcats, who have not played a home game, feature a pitching staff that leads AE play with a 2.88 team ERA.
