Galen G. TYLER

EAST HAMPTON, CONN., and LUBEC – Galen Gordon Tyler, 66, of East Hampton, Conn., beloved husband of Cheryl (Rand) Tyler, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Middlesex Hospital Hospice, Middleton, Conn., after a two year battle with cancer. Born May 21, 1946, in Lubec, he was the son of the late John and Hazel (Parker) Tyler.
Besides his wife, Cheryl; he is survived by son, Adam Tyler and wife, Jennifer, of Arlington, Mass.; daughter, Amy Ordonez and husband, Alex, of East Hampton, Conn.; brother, John Tyler and wife, Patricia, of Lubec; and three precious grandchildren, Cormac, Quincy and Harper.
Galen had lived in East Hampton, Conn., for the past 37 years. He was a past member of East Hampton Jaycees. Hailing from the small town of Lubec, Galen started his 43 year career at Pratt & Whitney as a sheet metal apprentice. Through hard work, and determination he rose to become a senior jet engine engineer. Early in his career, he met the love of his life, Cheryl. They married in 1969 and had a beautiful and loving marriage. In 1973 they had their first child, Amy, and three years later, their son, Adam. Galen was immensely proud of being a husband and father and provided a wonderful life for his family. He was a role model to his children, many of their friends and was a caring and dedicated husband. He was also a proud Papa to his three grandchildren. Throughout his life, Galen was a master story teller. At gatherings he loved to entertain family and friends with tales of his childhood growing up in Maine. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Friends may call 3-6 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main St., East Hampton, Conn. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, at Lubec Christian Temple Church with Pastor Gary Look officiating. Burial will follow in Corey Cemetery, Lubec. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that donations be made in Galen’s name to East Hampton High School, care of John Fidler, for the purchase of athletic equipment.
