Arlene Mitchell Bartlett

BERNARD – Arlene Mitchell Bartlett, 83, went to meet the Lord April 2, 2013. Arlene was born Sept. 6, 1929, in Somesville the daughter of Russell and Mary Ethel

(Lewis) Mitchell.

Arlene attended local Bernard schools and graduated from Pemetic High School, Southwest Harbor, class of 1947. She attended Bangor Conservatory of Music and played the organ on a local radio station. Arlene was a past president of Tremont Historical Society and operated Bass Harbor Country Store for many years. She also played the organ or piano at many local churches. She married Robert C. Bartlett of Southwest Harbor on April 2, 1950. They had three daughters.

Arlene is lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, Robert Bartlett of Bernard and her three daughters and their families; Susan Lahti and husband, William, of Canton, Mass., and their three sons, Kevin Lahti, Scott Lahti and John Lahti, all of Canton, Patricia Bartlett of Surry, and Ann Galipeau and husband, John, of Limington.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, April 8, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert with the Rev. Victor Stanley officiating. Burial will be at Hillrest Cemetery, Tremont.
