WESTERN SPRINGS, ILL. – Mary Lucille Landbeck passed away in her home March 29, 2013, after a lengthy illness. Mary Lucille was born May 7, 1921. She was raised in Bangor, and was the eldest of 10 children.
She graduated from John Bapst High School before beginning nurses training in 1939. She served our country as a Navy nurse during World War II, and while stationed in Portsmouth, N.H., met a young Navy submarine torpedo man. Mary and Fred were married in 1946, and enjoyed 65 years of marriage before Fred passed away in August 2011. Together they raised five children at their home in Western Springs, Ill., and they spent each summer at Phillips Lake, Dedham.
Mary Lucille was predeceased by death by her loving husband, Fred; parents, Bernard and Flora Duddy; and sister, Joann Rice. Mary Lucille is survived by her children, Fred and Carolyn, Robert and Mary, Mary Ellen and Terry Becker, Kathleen, and Jean and John Gabriel; as well as nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and eight Duddy siblings.
A funeral mass was held Tuesday, April 2, at Saint John of the Cross Church. Mary Lucille was laid to rest next to her beloved, Fred, at The Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
