BRIDGEWATER, Maine — Two Frenchville men were taken to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle with non life-threatening injuries Wednesday morning following a two-vehicle crash on Route 1.
At 6:35 Wednesday morning, Yvon Dube, 50, of Frenchville was traveling south on Route 1 in a Maine Department of Transportation 2008 GMC pickup truck. Jeff Pelletier, 36, also of Frenchville was a passenger in that truck, according to information released by Sgt. Brian Harris of the Maine State Police.
Dube lost control of his truck on icy roads and skidded toward a northbound 2013 Toyota pickup driven by Andrew McCluskey, 24, of Oakland, Harris said.
McCluskey was unable to avoid Dube and struck the rear of the MDOT truck which continued into a ditch, rolled over and landed on its top.
Dube and Pelletier were taken by ambulance to TAMC for treatment, Harris said.
McCluskey and his passenger, Dean McLaughlin, 47, of Dyer Brook, were not injured.
All four were wearing their seatbelts.
Both vehicles were declared total losses and traffic was restricted for an hour after the accident, according to Harris.
The accident was investigated by Trooper Dennis Quint with assistance from Harris, Trooper Nick Bailey and members of U.S. Border Patrol and the Bridgewater Fire Department.
