BANGOR, Maine — A local woman was issued a protection order against her ex-boyfriend earlier this month after he was arrested for domestic violence assault, but that did not stop him from breaking into her residence, according to police.

Ryan Horton, 26, of Bangor broke into the Finson Road residence of his 23-year-old ex-girlfriend at about 4:05 a.m. Tuesday, Bangor police Officer Jason McAmbley said.

“She was sleeping and woke up and found him in her apartment,” McAmbley said.

Horton, who was arrested on March 9 on a charge of domestic violence assault, had been drinking when he let himself into the woman’s apartment, “both of which are violations of his bail conditions,” McAmbley said.

Horton was arrested and charged with violating his conditions of release, and then was taken to Penobscot County Jail.
