Monday’s college roundup, baseball: Delaware Valley 11, UMPI 4

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — Delaware Valley College baseball took advantage of six University of Maine-Presque Isle errors to score seven unearned runs and beat the Owls 11-4 on Monday afternoon.

DVC moved to 9-10 while Presque Isle fell to 3-11.

After three innings, the Aggies were already up 8-2, with five runs being of the unearned variety.

Andrew Bartlett started and took the loss for the Owls. Bartlett pitched two innings, gave up six hits and six runs (three earned), walked two and struck out one.

Anthony Batchelder followed Bartlett and pitched 3.1 innings. Batchelder surrended four hits and four runs (only one earned), and struck out four.

UMPI’s Carlos Villoria continued his hot hitting, going 4-for-4 with a double and twoRBI. Villoria now has 11 hits in his past five and has a .400 average.

Softball

Randolph sweeps UMPI

LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Randolph College softball team earned a pair of victories over the University of Maine-Presque Isle on Monday, winning game one 14-1, and taking the nightcap 9-0.

The Wildcats (21-7) have won three straight while the Owls remain in search of their first win (0-6). Both games went five innings.

In game two, Randolph’s Logan Carter did not give up a hit in moving to 8-5.

Krista Coffin (0-5) started both games for UMPI.

Whitney Donovan went 2-for-2 in game one for UMP and broke up Carter’s perfect game by drawing a walk in game two.
