Mary M. (Phinney) Wallace

MILBRIDGE – Mary M. (Phinney) Wallace, 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior March 27, 2013. She was born May 23, 1930, in Southwest Harbor to Guilford and Sara (Norwood) Phinney.
As a child Mary attended Eastside School in Milbridge. On August 23, 1947, she married James Albert Wallace and had 10 children whom she loved dearly. Mary worked very hard beside her husband for many years digging and buying clams, making wreaths, purse seining and building whiers until the passing of her husband in 1980.
Mary is loved and survived by her children, Sammy Wallace, Jimmy Wallace and wife, Cindy, Levi Wallace, Goldie Myrick and husband, Dana, Arletta Daris, Gilbert Wallace and wife, Sandra, Sarah Alley and husband, Myron, Florence Oliver and husband, Pat, Doris Colson and husband, Gary and Merrill Wallace and wife, Laurie; 28 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Phinney; two sisters, Eva Haycock and Etta Beal; sister-in-law, Lena Walls of Jonesport; many cousins, nieces and nephews; one special nephew, Isaac Beal of Beals; and many friends she loved dearly. Mary is predeceased by her husband, James Albert Wallace; an infant daughter Margeret Wallace; daughter in-law, Rita Mae Wallace; son in-law, Albert Norman Daris; four brothers, Gilbert Phinney, Bobby Phinney, Alton “Buddy” Phinney and Alfred Phinney; sister, Nancy Butler; and parents Guilford and Sara (Norwood) Phinney. Mary will be sadly missed by her loving family and all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Church of Christ, 107 Kennedy Highway, Milbridge. Arrangements by Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Homes, Milbridge.
