MADAWASKA – MADAWASKA – Therese M. Desjardins, 85, passed away March 29, 2013, at a Fort Kent health care facility. She was born March 22, 1928, in Madawaska, daughter of the late Edmund and Leona (Thibodeau) Thibodeau.
She worked for many years in the cafeteria at Madawaska High School, enjoying being with the children of Madawaska. She was always willing to give a helping hand to those around her. Therese enjoyed knitting and camping at the lake, but most importantly spending time with her loving family.
She is survived by eight children, Joan Desjardins of St. Jacques, Bernadine White and husband, Richard, of Londonderry, N.H., Evelyn Desjardins of St. Jacques, Deborah Desjardins of Fredricton, New Brunswick, Brian Desjardins and wife, Nicole, of Albion, Susan Bourgoin and husband, Pierre, of Edmundston, Bruce Desjardins and wife, Lucie, of St. Basile, New Brunswick, and Edith Desjardins of St. Agatha; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Therese was predeceased by her beloved husband, Emedy Desjardins, in 2003; and by one grandson, Matthew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. April 2, at St. David Church. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lajoie Funeral Home. Spring interment will be at the parish cemetery. For online condolences, please visit www.lajoiefuneralhome.com.
