BANGOR, Maine — A local man who called police to report a burglary wound up going to jail due to three outstanding warrants, according to police.

Robert Murwin, 52, had called Bangor police to report a possible burglary in progress in the area of Center and Cumberland streets around 3 a.m. Thursday, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said.

Murwin stated to police he had witnessed seven men wearing ski masks in a pawn shop on Center Street stealing guitars, the sergeant said.

Officer Nick Huggins responded and found that there was nothing suspicious in the area and the building was secured, Edwards said.

Huggins also discovered Murwin had three outstanding warrants, all for unpaid fines and fees, and placed him under arrest, Edwards said. Murwin remains at Penobscot County Jail.
