CARIBOU, Maine — This Aroostook County city will probably never appear on a March Madness college basketball bracket, but Caribou has made The Weather Channel’s Elite 8 in its Toughest Weather City Tournament.

Weather.com, the website of The Weather Channel, put together “America’s Toughest Weather City Tournament,” listing 64 cities from across the country — the same number of schools that vie for college basketball’s top prize.

Thanks to voters from around the country, Caribou has made the final eight, and is up against Syracuse, N.Y. in the Northeast Region final.

The other six cities vying for a Final Four spot are Juneau and Fairbanks, Alaska; Fargo, N.D.; International Falls, Minn.; and Lubbock and Dallas, Texas.

To vote, log onto http://www.weather.com/sports-rec/march-madness/Toughest-Weather-City-Tournament-20130315 until 4 a.m. Eastern time Friday.
