Sluggers April vacation camp

At Brewer, Sluggers Indoor Baseball and Softball Training Facility, accepting registrations for its April Vacation Sports Camp, April 15–19; weeklong program will provide introductory instruction for T-Ball and Coach Pitch, focusing on basics of baserunning, playing specific positions and teamwork, outdoor games such as 4-Square, wall ball and kickball will fill day with a creative learning experience focusing on teamwork and individual performance, arts and crafts will fill the later afternoon hours; camp broken into two groups, pre-kindergarten to second grade (ages 5–7) and grades 3-5 (ages 8-11), contact Terren Hall (thall@mainesluggers.com) or Kirstin Allen (admin@mainesluggers.com) or call 951-2250, more details available on the link for School Vacation Clinics at www.mainesluggers.com

At Brewer, Sluggers Indoor Baseball and Softball Training Facility, free softball coaching clinic set for Thursday, April 4, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., speakers include Universtity of Maine softball head coach Lynn Coutts, UMaine assistant softball coach Mike Coutts, former UMaine and current Husson University hitting instructor Terry Hall and a speaker representing ASA/Federation Umpires in Eastern Maine. No preregistration required.

ROAD RACING

At Unity, Unity College, Unity College Spring 5K Road Race will be held Saturday, April 20, this is 31st annual running of the event on Unity College campus, coincides with Unity College’s Earth Day celebration; course starts from the Unity College gymnasium and winds through the village of Unity, event is co-sponsored by the Central Maine Striders running club, registration starts at 8 a.m. in the college’s Activities Building, race begins at 9:30 a.m., walkers start at 9:15, registration fee is $10, prizes for various age groups will be awarded, contact Gary Zane for more information (948-9241 or emailgzane@unity.edu).

Maine USATF Officials Clinic

At Orono, Town Office Building, council chambers, 59 Main St., Maine Association of USA Track & Field will conduct a free track and field officials clinic, April 7, registration at 12:30 p.m., clinic 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; clinic is for anyone interested in officiating track and field at the youth, high school, or college level and/or becoming certified or re-certified; Don Berry, master official Certification Chair for Maine USATF, will conduct the session, which is designed to provide both a beginning and advanced levels on instruction and will cover all aspects of track and field officiating and rules review; rule books will be provided for purchase and testing material will also be available; drinks and snacks will be provided; coaches and parents who want to learn more about the rules are encouraged to attend; contact Mary Cady if you plan to attend or have questions, 745-2540 or kdmarykd@gmail.com

East Grand Adventure Race
