ELLSWORTH, Maine — Police say they’ve charged a 17-year-old Bangor boy with Class A Robbery in connection with an August 2011 robbery in Ellsworth.

Ellsworth Officer Chad Wilmot summoned the boy on March 8, according to a media release issued Tuesday.

Wilmot said the investigation is ongoing, with other suspects facing charges, and so could not give many details of the case. Wilmot said that, depending on the complexity of a case, it’s not uncommon for charges to come some time after a crime allegedly occurred.

“This one has just taken a while,” he said Tuesday.

He said the 17-year-old boy brandished a gun at a home on Shore Road on Aug. 5, 2011. The officer said several people were involved in the robbery, and that six juveniles were in the home at the time of the crime.

“They brandished a firearm, and put [the victims] down on the ground,” Wilmot said.

The robbers made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, marijuana and other possessions, Wilmot said.

In February, police had arrested another man in connection with the 2011 robbery. Police arrested Anthony Pollard, 21, of East Orland, on a charge of falsifying physical evidence of the robbery. Pollard is alleged to have destroyed some of the stolen goods in an attempt to hinder the investigation.

Wilmot said victims’ accounts of the incident differ, and so he couldn’t say exactly how many people were involved in committing the robbery.

“When you’re standing in different places, you see different things,” he said.

The juvenile’s court date has yet to be scheduled, but Pollard is scheduled to appear in Ellsworth District Court on May 21.

Class A Robbery is punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine. Pollard’s charge of falsifying physical evidence is punishable by up to a year in jail and a $2,000 fine.
