BANGOR — The KahBang Festival 2013 announced that its fifth annual summer festival in celebration of independent artists will be held Aug. 8-11 in on the Bangor waterfront and in venues across the city.
Artists in all media are encouraged to submit their work for showcasing at the festival. Currently all divisions of art, film and music are open for submissions. Applications and further information may be found at www.KahBang.com.
The Art Festival is curated by KahBang Arts, the nonprofit partner of the festival. Focusing on year-round exposure, development and advocacy for artists, KahBang Arts creates pop-up galleries, outdoor exhibits and performing art expositions throughout downtown during the festival weekend. The Film Festival, in its fourth year as a part of the KahBang Festival, focuses on up-and-coming filmmakers, screening independent shorts and full-length films. Filmmakers may submit their work directly online and learn more about specific categories at www.KahBang.com.
The KahBang Festival takes over the city of Bangor for four days and brings together a wide variety of genres and styles in music, art and film. KahBang is dedicated to the discovery of new music, art and film, and will present another new class of up-and-coming artists from New England and around the country.
Throughout the festival, Bangor venues and bars will host intimate showcases of performers and artists also performing on the Waterfront. Camping packages, tickets and lineup details will be announced at a later date.
