Allan L. Cyr

ORONO – Allan L. Cyr died March 24, 2013, at Orono Commons. He was born July 23, 1942, in Old Town, son of Leo and Bertha (Fournier) Cyr.
Allan graduated from Old Town High School in 1961. He worked for Georgia Pacific until his retirement in 2004. Allan loved sports and was very athletic while in school. He especially enjoyed his camper at Pushaw Lake Campground, and looked forward to visits from his children and grandchildren. Allan had a faithful companion, Buddy, who was always by his side until his death in 2009.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Tommy Cyr of New York. Allan is survived by his wife, Judy (Leighton) Cyr of Orono; brother-in-law, Larry Leighton; son, William Cyr and wife, Laura, of Connecticut; daughters, Laura and husband, William Brzozowski, of Bucksport, and Paulyne and husband, Dale Grande, of Connecticut; granddaughters, Jamie Brzozowski of Bucksport, Ericka Slater and Samantha Walter, both of Las Vegas, and Heather Dion of Connecticut; grandsons, Vincent Cyr of Connecticut, Steven and Matthew Slater of Florida, Justin and Joshua Grande of Connecticut; great-granddaughter, Natalie of Las Vegas; great-grandson, Allen of Connecticut; two sisters, Donna and husband, Leith Wadleigh, of Veazie, and Margaret (Cyr) Colman of New Jersey; many nieces and nephews. The family says a special thank you to the staff at Orono Commons for their kindness and patients while helping Allan through his life’s journey.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at the Orono Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 72 Main St., Orono. Interment will be held in July for the family at Riverside Cemetery, Orono. The family also requests that no flowers be sent. Condolences to the family may be expressed at
