BANGOR — Penobscot Theatre announced that it will offer youngsters the Dramatic Academy Summer program. Students will have the opportunity to sing, dance, act and play all while studying skills in performance and literature.
Two sessions will be held at The Bangor Opera House. Session 1 will offer programming that features the work of William Shakespeare. Session 2 will focus on musical theater productions.
The schedule is:
• Session 1: June 24-July 12, with performances July 12-14.
Tiny Thespians, age 4 to 6, “Romeo and Juliet: Shakespeare Can Be Fun!”
Junior Troupe, age 7 to 9, “Will and Whimsy.”
Youth Troupe, ages 10 to13, “The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet.”
Show Choir, ages 10 and up, “West Side Story.”
Young Adult Ensemble, ages 14 to 20, “Romeo and Juliet.”
• Session 2: July 29-Aug. 16, with performances Aug. 16-18.
Tiny Thespians Musical: “The Aristocats”
Junior and Youth Troupe Musical: “High School Musical.”
Show Choir: “Hunchback of Notre Dame.”
Young Adult Musical: “RENT.” Session begins July 22.
New to the program is the addition of Show Choir Camp. Students will study with award winning choreographers and directors. Show Choir will be available during both sessions.
