Bradford man assaulted by 3, doused with gas, police say

BRADFORD, Maine — A Maine State Police team is investigating an assault Saturday night in which three men seriously injured a local man and doused him with gasoline, state police Trooper Steve Morrell said Tuesday.

“An aggravated assault did occur Saturday night in Bradford,” the trooper said. “The victim was seriously injured [but] it’s not life threatening.”

The name and age of the man injured was not released, Morrell said, because the investigation is ongoing. Why the men were fighting also was not released.

“A number of us are working on it,” the trooper said, adding he expects charges to be filed in the near future.

Morrell, Trooper Jonah O’Roak and acting Sgt. Barry Meserve went to Bradford at about 8:40 p.m. Saturday after someone reported the assault, according to Maine State Police website.

The current condition of the man assaulted was not immediately available.
