BANGOR, Maine — The Harlem Globetrotters will be in Bangor tonight, in spite of an accident that snarled Massachusetts traffic on Interstate 290 east Tuesday morning.

Massachusetts state police said the team’s bus was involved in a minor crash involving a Pontiac G6 near Marlborough, Mass., around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. No one was injured, but police say the Pontiac was towed from the scene. The bus drove off under its own power and continued to Maine, according to police.

Police say weather contributed to the crash.

Bass Park Director Mike Dyer said he spoke with the Globetrotters’ tour manager shortly before 1 p.m., and that the bus was on I-95 north of Augusta. Dyer said the tour manager told him that the bus was snarled up in traffic as a result of an accident, but that the team bus was not directly involved in the crash.

The team is still on schedule to play at the Bangor Auditorium and Civic Center at 7 p.m., Tuesday, according to Dyer.
