PITTSFIELD – Juanita Watson, 90, died March 14, 2013, after a long battle with cancer, at her daughter’s residence. She was born Dec. 23, 1922, in Dumas, Miss., a daughter of William and Parthenie (Pannell) Gross.
During World War II Juanita served in the U.S. Navy. Juanita was a nurse, employed as a cook in various area restaurants and a homemaker.
Juanita was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Daniel Carl Watson, Nov. 12, 2006; a sister, Ruby; several half brothers and half sisters; and a grandson, Bertrand. She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Ladd of Poland, Deborah and husband, Jeffrey LaCroix, of Skowhegan and Danita and husband, Jerome Humphrey, of Pittsfield; a brother, William “Buddy” Gross of of Dumas, Miss.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Richard and wife, Lenora Watson; and a sister-in-law, Emma Watson, all of Harmony.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 18, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, with Pastor Tim Curtis officiating. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of services. Spring burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Eastern Maine, 885 Union St., Suite 220, Bangor, ME 04401.
