ELLSWORTH, Maine — A Bowling for Scholars fundraiser, in memory of Leah Salisbury Allen, is being scheduled for Saturday, April 27, at Eastward Bowling Lanes on Route 1.

The event, sponsored by the Ellsworth High School Alumni Association, will help the association continue its mission of helping worthy Ellsworth High School seniors and alumni pursue post-secondary education. The fundraising goal for the event is $20,000.

Each bowling team must have a name, five bowlers with one designated as team captain, and must raise a minimum of $250 to participate. Prizes will be awarded to the team and individual who raise the most funds.

Each team member must pledge a minimum of $50 and record pledge information on sheets that can be downloaded at ellsworthalumni.org. Each donor will receive a completed receipt for their donation. Completed pledge sheets and donated money must be turned in to the team captain at the bowling event.

The deadline for registering teams is Tuesday, April 2, 2013. To register, call 667-4664 or email tsbeal46@yahoo.com.

Teams are asked to make a request for a specific hour between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. that they would like to bowl. Teams will bowl in one-hour intervals, with each team member bowling one string. Bowling shoes will be provided to participants who do not have their own.
