Two indicted in Caribou home invasion

CARIBOU, Maine — Two men arrested in January in connection with a home invasion in Caribou have been indicted by the Aroostook County grand jury.

Aroostook County District Attorney Todd Collins said Friday that the grand jury indicted more than 40 people during its second session of 2013.

Two indictments were related to the Jan. 3 incident at an Access Highway residence. Chad D. Lagasse, 26, of Caribou was indicted on charges of robbery, theft, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs and criminal forfeiture. Eric J. Mowatt, 25, of Limestone was indicted on robbery and theft charges.

According to police, the two suspects allegedly entered the home in disguise, brandished handguns and demanded money. An adult and child were in the residence at the time but were not injured.

The two men got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and several other items.

Mowatt was apprehended shortly after the incident by the Caribou Police Department. Lagasse was not arrested until three weeks later. When he was pulled over in a car he was driving, police reportedly found Lagasse in possession of more than 100 oxycodone pills with a street value of $8,000.

Melissa R. O’Neill, 31, Washburn, aggravated unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

Alicia Saucier, 30, Castle Hill, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

Vaughn A. Spaulding, 49, Presque Isle, criminal operating under the influence.

Benjamin Cyr, 27, Fort Kent, assault on an officer, operating under the influence, refusing to submit to arrest, disorderly conduct.

Tracy L. Richardson, 33, Washburn, theft of services, aggravated criminal mischief.

Mark L. Crouch Jr., 37, Woodland, aggravated criminal trespass, assault, criminal mischief.

Lucas G. Sterris, 27, Easton, domestic violence stalking, domestic violence terrorizing, driving to endanger.

Benjamin L. Loggans, 28, Limestone, theft.

Karen M. Hargrave, 30, Caribou, domestic violence assault, aggravated criminal trespass.
