MONSON – Douglas Leroy Ellis Jr., 87, passed away March 10, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at Mayo Regional Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft. He was born June 19, 1925, in Oakland, the son of the late Douglas and Macy Ellis.

Douglas served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy, and retired from the U.S. Civil Service. He was a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Douglas is survived by his loving wife of more than 40 years, Marjorie; children, Lisa Brown, Sharon Dunaway, Carol Novellino, Douglas Ellis, Mary Carmichael, Jeanette Hicks and Jeanne Bitzon; sister, Connie Carpenter; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Doug’s family thanks the staff of the medical/surgical unit at Mayo Regional Hospital for their compassionate care while he was there.

A graveside memorial service with military honors will take place will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Lake Road Cemetery, Monson. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. Condolences and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
