PHIPPSBURG, Maine — A 9-year-old boy who became disoriented while walking on a trail was found “no worse for wear” Monday night near Center Pond.

Between 30 and 50 game wardens, firefighters, sheriff’s deputies and others joined in the search for the boy, who was lost for approximately three hours, Maine Game Warden Doug Kulis said Monday.

Walking with police dogs and infrared units, searchers “were on his tracks” when the boy emerged from the woods and was spotted by a man who had just received a reverse 911 call from the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office, Kulis said. The man recognized the boy from the description in the phone call, brought the boy into his house and called police.

He was found “in very good condition,” Kulis said.
