Goessling, competing in the senior men’s division (ages 21 and over), compiled a time of 38 minutes, 57.4 seconds over a 12.5-kilometer course in the pursuit, an event in which biathletes’ starts are separated by their time differences from a previous race, Friday’s sprint.

Goessling missed five targets in the shooting portion of the event.
