ROCKLAND, Maine — A 42-year-old Owls Head woman received a suspended jail term Friday after pleading guilty to assaulting a male partner and damaging some of his property.
Sherry L. Thurston was sentenced Friday in Knox County Superior Court by Justice Joyce Wheeler to 364 days in jail, with all of it suspended, for domestic violence assault. Thurston was also placed on probation for a year with a requirement that she receive counseling.
A felony charge of aggravated criminal trespass was dismissed in exchange for the plea.
The offenses occurred in February 2012 in Rockland.
Assistant District Attorney Jeff Baroody said the victim in the case was not cooperative, which played a role in the sentence agreement reached with the defense.
Thurston also was convicted of criminal mischief for damaging the victim’s cellphone, glasses and picture frame, according to court documents.
