BANGOR – Muriel Marcia Braveman “Aunt Mushie,” passed away March 6, 2013, at the age of 87. She was the youngest child of Jacob and Lena Braveman and sister to Abe, Gertrude, Ben, Sarah, Helen and Ted, all of whom predeceased her.
“Aunt Mushie” lived her whole life in Bangor. She was a lifelong member of Beth Israel Synagogue where she was an active member in Women’s Chevrah Kadisha for many years. She dedicated most of her adult life caring for her parents, never leaving the family homestead on Grove Street in Bangor. Later, she was a loving companion to her best friend and sister, Helen Rolsky. As a young adult, she helped her parents in their unique restaurant in Pickering Square in downtown Bangor, the Midget Lunch. Later, she became a hairdresser opening a shop in her parents’ home.
“Aunt Mushie” leaves behind several nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Ellen Braveman, all of whom will remember her with great stories and fondness. The family also sends many thanks and appreciation to the staff at Orono Commons with special thanks to Sandy Sullivan, Aunt Mushie’s dear friend.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, March 8, at the Jewish Funeral Chapel, 118 Center St., Bangor, with Rabbi Justin Goldstein officiating.
