Michael F. Tarvainen

OWLS HEAD – Michael F. Tarvainen, 51, died unexpectedly March 2, 2013, at his home. He was born Jan. 2, 1962, in Rockland to Toivo and Rachel Spear Tarvainen.
He grew up in Owls Head and graduated from Rockland High School in the class of 1980. He lived most of his life in Owls Head. He attended University of Maine at Augusta. He loved being outdoors, going to camp, hunting and fishing. He loved animals, music and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his sister, Yvonne Prosser and her husband, Sheldon, of Scarborough; brother, William Tarvainen and his wife, Barbara, of Durham, N.H.; nephews, Tyler Prosser of Scarborough, Nicholas Tarvainen of Dover, N.H., and James Tarvainen of New York City; nieces, Kylie Prosser of Scarborough, Mariah Tarvainen of Jamaica Plain, Mass., and Rosie Tarvainen of Durham,N.H.; aunts and uncles, Nancy and Robert Sayward of Union and Donna and Edward McDonald of East Union; and close friend, Cindy.
Friends are welcome to visit with the family 1-2 p.m. with a service to celebrate Michael’s life 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Hall Funeral Home, 78 Main St., Thomaston. Burial will be in the spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Michael’s memory to Humane Society of Knox County, P.O. Box 1294, Rockland, ME 04841.
