Lois A. Lawson

SKOWHEGAN – Lois A. Lawson, 88, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 2, 2013, in Athens, Maine. She was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Sangerville, the daughter of Leslie Knowlton and Rebecca (Hill) Knowlton.
Lois graduated from San-gerville High School, class of 1943. She married Leonard Lawson Sr., in May 1968, in Lewiston. She worked at Maine Spinning Mill, Wyandott Mill, Central Maine Yarn Manufacturing and Forest Yarns, Sydney, for most of her life. Lois loved to do cross-stitching, crafts and crossword puzzles, walking, flower gardens, watching NASCAR and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her two children, Jeanne Smith and her husband, Norman, of Rockwood and William LeBlanc and his wife, Judy, of Corinth; one brother, Leroy Knowlton of Dexter; two grandchildren, Sonia Smith of Portland and Stephanie Alexander and her husband, Chuck, of Harpswell; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Sammy; one stepson, Leonard Lawson Jr. of Manchester; many nieces, nephews and friends. Lois was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Leonard; her brother, Frank Knowlton; her stepbrother, Russell Adams; and stepsister, Alice Grant.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at Southside Cemetery, Skowhegan. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan.
