WARREN, Maine — The town planning board may get its first look Thursday night at plans for a proposed 68,000-square-foot indoor sports facility.
Rick Bresnahan of WSF LLC has submitted an application to the town for the complex to be named The Pitch. The indoor sports facility would be located on the west side of Route 90 about two miles from the Rockland town line.
Bresnahan founded Midcoast Recreation Center in Rockport in 2001. Ownership of that facility was donated in 2010 to a nonprofit that features indoor skating and tennis.
Bresnahan said Wednesday he did not want to offer more details yet, since he has neither purchased the land nor gone before the planning board.
The board meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at the town office. Town officials were scrambling Wednesday, however, to find another member for the board. There are currently four members on the board that is supposed to have seven members. One of the four members, however, will be absent due to surgery, leaving the board without a quorum to take any action.
The selectmen are scheduled to meet Wednesday night and could appoint another member in time for the Thursday planning meeting.
The application for The Pitch states that the building — to be located at 721 Camden Road (also known as Route 90) — would be built within a year of town approval. The property has more than 28 acres.
