OLD TOWN, Maine — A wanted Indian Island man was taken into custody shortly after noon Tuesday on Water Street after he was seen going into a building, Old Town police Capt. Kyle Smart said shortly after the arrest.
Michael Tanguay, 23, was wanted for two outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court, a Penobscot County Jail official said.
Local police and acting Sgt. James Kennedy of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched at about 11:45 a.m. to Water Street, which was blocked to traffic at around noon. Tanguay was quickly taken into custody, said Smart, who added Old Town police were assisting the sheriff’s office.
Tanguay was convicted of failing to report for court in August 2012, and sentenced to spend 48 hours behind bars, according to prior court listings printed in the Bangor Daily News.
Another officer at the scene said Tanguay was tracked from French Street on French Island over to Water Street.
