Police seeking man who pulled gun at Waterville apartment building

WATERVILLE, Maine — Police are seeking a man they say pulled a handgun on another man at a Summer Street apartment building early Monday.

The incident occurred around 3:45 a.m. when a man heard loud banging on the door of his apartment, according to Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey.

When the tenant answered the door, he found two men he didn’t recognize, and the men stated they were looking for a different man, Rumsey said.

“The victim told him he wasn’t there,” Rumsey said.

Another resident came out of a different apartment in the building to see what the commotion was, and that’s when one of the men pulled a handgun out of his waist and started to make threats, Rumsey said. The suspect pointed it at one man as the intruders were in the process of leaving the building.

“We’re hoping to find out who they are and what they were doing there,” Rumsey said.

The deputy chief said the man who pulled the gun is described as white, standing 5 feet 3 inches tall, and was wearing a black winter jacket and black winter cap. Rumsey said it is unlikely the other man would face charges.

Anyone with information on the incident should call Waterville police at 680-4700.
