Police arrest Wilton man accused of crashing truck

By Ann Bryant, Sun Journal

WILTON, Maine — A Wilton man faces a charge of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon after he caused the truck he was riding in to crash Sunday.

Michael Dalot, 58, was the passenger in a vehicle driven by a relative, Brian Dalot, said Wilton Police Chief Heidi Wilcox.

The men were traveling on Route 2 about 2 p.m. Sunday. Michael Dalot, who reportedly was intoxicated, pulled on the wheel and refused to let go. The 1998 Dodge Dakota pickup crossed over the oncoming lane of traffic, went over an embankment and struck a tree.

No one was injured, but it was a very dangerous situation, Wilcox said.

Dalot was arrested on the charge and taken to Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington.
