DEDHAM – Carolyn J. Murley, 52, died unexpectedly March 1, 2013, at her home. She was born March 4, 1960, in Portland, the daughter of William C. and Eleanor (Jones) Murley.
Carolyn was a 1979 graduate of Mount Desert Island High School and worked for more than eight years as a service clerk at Hannaford’s Supermarket, Brewer. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Holden Congregational Church, where she enjoyed Sunday services, taught religious education to the 4 and 5 year-olds for several years and was a member of the bell choir. Carolyn liked to do many things. She sang with the “Noteables” of CHCS, Bangor, and loved the time spent with her family especially fishing and going to camp at Beddington Lake. She liked the holidays, eating out, cats and kittens, playing cards, working word games and assembling picture puzzles, playing online games, craft projects, collecting snowmen and cat figurines, Star Trek and was a huge fan of country star Tim McGraw. Carolyn and her family enjoyed the trips they made to Avian Haven, Freedom, as transporters for injured birds.
Surviving are her parents of Dedham; three brothers, Daniel K. Murley and his fiancée, Marianne Hunt, of Southwest Harbor, Alan S. Murley of Portland and a brother, Jonathan P. Murley and his wife, Paula, and their daughter, Isabel, of Milton, Mass.; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by all her grandparents, the Murleys of Reading, Mass., and the Joneses of Brattleboro, Vt.
A service honoring Carolyn’s life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, at Holden Congregational Church, Church Road, Holden, with the Rev. Dr. Tracy Reeves presiding. Burial will be in the spring. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be immediately afterward in the church hall. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Holden Congregational Church, P.O.
