NAPLES, Maine — No injuries were reported when a single-engine Cessna plane crashed while attempting to land on Long Lake Saturday morning.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Naples Fire Department responded at 10:51 a.m. to assist the Federal Aviation Administration in investigating a report of a plane crash in the lake, according to a release from Cumberland County Chief Deputy Naldo Gagnon.

The pilot of the plane, whose name was not available, escaped injury. The plane suffered “minimal damage,” according to Gagnon.

The FAA will continue to investigate the incident.
