Alice Fern Kneeland

NEWPORT – Alice Fern Kneeland, 80, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at a Pittsfield nursing home. She was born May 13, 1932, in Newport, daughter of Erwin R. and Christina F. (Welch) Dearborn.

Alice was the valedictorian of the Corinna Union Academy 1950 graduating class. She had worked many years as a shoe shop inspector at several shoe shops throughout Maine and New England, and attended Calvary Baptist Church, Newport.

She is survived by three sons, Rex and wife, Kim, of Levant, Donald and wife, Patricia, of Carmel, and Dave and wife, Sue, of Cape Coral, Fla.; two sisters, Althea Emery of Bangor and Marguerite Ricker of Delta, Colo.; sister-in-law, Lorraine Dearborn of Hartland; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friend, Vera Stevenson of Newport. She was predeceased by her brother, Everett Dearborn; sister, Roberta Ricker; and three brothers-in-law, Colby Emery, Ellery Ricker and Donald Ricker. The family thanks the nursing staff at Sebasticook Valley Health Care Facility for the wonderful care they provided during Alice’s stay.

Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of service 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Street Christian Church, Corinna, with Pastor David Chenoweth officiating. Spring burial will be held at Morses Corner Cemetery, Corinna. Arrangements are by Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth. Please visit
