St. Albans to have elections, town meeting this weekend

ST. ALBANS, Maine — Municipal and referendum elections for St. Albans as well as the annual town meeting are set for March 1 and 2.

Municipal and referendum elections will be held Friday at the town office from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The town meeting starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the town office.

Selectman Daniel Hanson is the only person running for the three-year selectman position. Stacey Desrosiers is also the only person on the ballot for the one-year town clerk position and Ronnie Finson is running unopposed for the one-year term as road commissioner.

Chuck Crump, Eleanor Davids, Shelda Madigan and Scott Seekins are running for three openings on the budget committee. All are three-year terms.

The town also has two referendum questions, both involving fixing roads.

St. Albans is asking voters to borrow $650,000 to repair the Mason Corner Road, Bigelow Road, High Street, Water Street and Grant Road. It is also asking voters to borrow $150,000 to repair the Pond Road.

There are 40 articles on the town warrant for Saturday’s town meeting. They may be viewed on the town’s website.
