Batteries stolen from Wilton plant, logging site

By Ann Bryant, Sun Journal

WILTON, Maine — Police are investigating the theft of multiple batteries over Monday night at two different sites.

Three batteries were taken at the town’s waste-water treatment plant on Davis Court, Wilton Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said. Two batteries were taken from a logging site on Colby Miller Road.

At the waste-water treatment plant, one battery was taken from a tractor, another from a generator and the third from another piece of equipment, she said.

The two at the logging site were taken out of skidders, both used Monday.

There have been other battery thefts from vehicles and equipment recently reported in Farmington and Jay.

Police ask anyone who has any information about the thefts or sees something unusual at worksites during night hours to call the Wilton Police Department at 645-3876.
