LIMESTONE, Maine — An investigator with the state fire marshal’s office remained at the Loring Commerce Centre on Wednesday looking into an intentionally set fire in a vacant building that once was used as barracks at the former Loring Air Force Base.
The investigator, Tim Lowell, said that the flames were first spotted around 6 p.m. Sunday by area firefighters.
The building was unoccupied and no one was hurt, but the structure sustained significant damage.
The building is currently in the hands of out-of-state owners, according to Lowell, and was being renovated for use as apartments.
The investigation is ongoing.
