Nadine T. Boddy

MILLINOCKET AND ORONO – Nadine T. Boddy, 92, and widow of her beloved husband of 66 years, Eugene S. Boddy, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 in Orono. She was born March 23, 1920, in Millinocket, the daughter of John Henry and Mettie May (McDonald) Tingley.
Nadine had held numerous jobs. She worked at Whalen’s Rexall Drug Store, Boddy’s Dairy, Sno-land Dairy, Millinocket Trust Company and was also the town clerk of Millinocket for many years. She graduated from Stearns High School, class of 1937. She was a charter member of Millinocket – Stearns – St. Martin of Tours Alumni Association. She was known for her knitting, sewing and exquisite quilting, even teaching quilting classes. She was also a member of Pine Tree Quilters. She was a lifelong member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, where she served as a vestry person, guild member, and altar guild directress.
Nadine is survived by her children, Jean Marie Boddy-Johnston, Sheila and her husband, Jasper “Sandy” Haynes, and William Boddy and his wife, Jean; five grandchildren, Traci J. Boddy, William John Boddy, Erin Catherine Clark, Joellen H. Duplisea, Arran J. Haynes; eight great-grandchildren, Megan and Leah Remick, Liam and Nathan Clark, Samantha Boddy, Owen and Max Duplisea, and Elizabeth Haynes; two cousins, Elizabeth Martin and Frederick Tingley; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, brother, John Henry Jr.; sisters, Irma Graf, Donna Costello; and son-in-law, Edward F. Johnston.
A funeral service will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, March 4 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Millinocket, where visiting hours will be from 9:30 a.m. until start of the service.
