BANGOR – Joan Bridget LaGasse, 71, died Feb. 24, 2013, at a Bangor hospital from complications due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease/pneumonia. She was born July 7, 1941, in Bangor, daughter of Charles and Ann (Joslyn) Milan.
Joan attended John Bapst High School. After her school years and a short marriage to James Parent, she married David LaGasse and moved to Joliet, Ill., where she raised their daughter, Bridget; and three stepchildren, David, Angela and Lisa LaGasse. She worked for many years as a housekeeper in health care settings. In 2008 Joan moved back to Maine and had resided at Woodlands Assisted Living Center since that time.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Bridget, in 2009. Survivors include her brothers, Charles Milan III, Danny Milan and John Colton; sisters, Charlene King and Judy Milan; grandsons, Bruce, Christopher and Kyle Cleary; many nieces and nephews. She loved her friends and activities at Woodlands and leaves behind special friends, Cecelia, Christine and Marie; her St. Paul the Apostle Parish Catholic Group; her roommate, Mary; her “significant other,” Jim; and many other friends. The family thanks all of the wonderful caregivers and service workers at Woodlands for their friendship to Joan.
