Man arrested on warrants after meltdown on Bangor bus

By Dawn Gagnon, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — A local man police describe as a transient was arrested Friday after he allegedly behaved in a disorderly manner on a Community Connector bus.

The episode happened shortly before 4:30 p.m., when police were called downtown to look into a report of an unruly bus passenger on Broad Street, Bangor police Sgt. Larry Weber said Saturday, citing an arrest report.

When they arrived, officers found Ryan Loucks, 27, at the parking garage at Pickering Square, where the Community Connector bus depot is located, Weber said.

“The guy said he’d fallen asleep [while riding the bus] and thought someone had stolen his bag,” Weber said.

When police looked Loucks up in their database, they learned that he was wanted on warrants for failure to appear on an unpaid restitution charge and for a theft out of Augusta, Weber said.

Loucks was taken to Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Saturday evening.
