Dover-Foxcroft man arrested after car he was riding in goes off road

DEXTER, Maine — A car sliding off a snowy road Sunday evening led to the arrest of a Dover-Foxcroft man.

Dexter Police officer Kyle Wilson responded to a car off the road on North Dexter Road at about 10:45 p.m. Sunday night, said Chief Kevin Wintle on Friday.

Wilson discovered that the female driver had a protection from abuse order against the man riding in the passenger seat, said Wintle.

“There was an active protection order in effect for him to have no contact with her,” said Wintle.

Brian Peterman, 20, was arrested for violation of a protection from abuse order, a Class D misdemeanor.

He was taken to Penobscot County Jail in Bangor that night. On Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to the charge in Penobscot Judicial Center and was sentenced to 48 hours in jail, but was released on time served, according to a spokeswoman at the Penobscot County district attorney’s office.
