MONTPELIER, Va. – Patricia Joanne Paczolt, 61, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013.
She is survived by her husband of 13 years, George R. “Syke” Paczolt; mother, Frances Hochmuth of Orono; and sister, Carol Hochmuth Klein of Glen Allen, Va. She was predeceased by her father, Frank Hochmuth.
Patti was born in Summit, N.J., spent her high school years in Simsbury, Conn., where she was a National Merit Scholar and attended the University of Vermont. She subsequently lived and worked in the medical and chemical technology fields in Montreal and Columbia, Md., where she was employed at W. R. Grace & Co.’s research chemistry division. After moving to Richmond, Va., she earned her realtor’s license and most recently was an agent with Joyner Fine Properties. In addition, she was a talented science fiction and fantasy costumer, winning numerous awards at the annual World Science Fiction Convention masquerades. She loved gardens and animals, raised generations of cats and led a lost cow home down a country road. Patti and her husband were avid motorcycle enthusiasts and spent many happy hours exploring the countryside near and far. Patti was our kind, loyal and true wife, daughter, sister and friend. She was our love and will live in our hearts forever. The family would like to express their great appreciation for the kindness and devotion shown to Patti by her home care aides, Pat Carneal and Margaret Smethers-Martin, who made her last year so comfortable and entertaining.
