CORINTH, Maine — A man suspected of selling stolen chain saws on Craigslist was arrested during a traffic stop Thursday, according to police.

Aaron Morgan, 32, of West Gardiner is suspected of stealing numerous chain saws during a burglary Wednesday at Kramer and Sons in Sidney, according to Lt. Aaron Hayden of the Maine State Police.

Morgan allegedly stole the chain saws from the business, and when he later posted them on Craigslist — an online sales site — the owner of the shop contacted police.

State troopers and Penobscot County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to locate the tools in Corinth and linked them back to Kramer and Sons and J and M Camper of Augusta, which also reported a commercial burglary Wednesday, the lieutenant said.

Troopers and sheriff’s deputies arrested Morgan in Corinth on Thursday afternoon, according to Hayden. Police were able to recover 12 chain saws from his vehicle.

Hayden said Morgan is believed to have sold numerous chain saws on Craigslist, and he is also a suspect in a reported theft of chain saws from a motor vehicle in the town of Fayette, the sergeant said.

Anyone who purchased chain saws from Morgan should call state police at 624-7076. Morgan is being held at Penobscot County Jail on the burglary charge. Hayden said additional charges are likely.
